Press Release: Backroads of Appalachia 2024 Impact Report
Backroads of Appalachia proudly announces the findings of our 2024 Regional Impact Study, conducted by Dr. Gregory Green, Ph.D. This comprehensive analysis highlights the significant contributions made by our motorsports tourism initiatives to Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia.
In 2024, Backroads of Appalachia brought together 75,351 participants and spectators across 51 counties, generating a remarkable $92.4 million in regional economic activity. This includes $50.5 million in Kentucky and $41.9 million in West Virginia, contributing to 1,055 full-time equivalent jobs. These results underscore our commitment to revitalizing coal-impacted communities through innovative, community-focused tourism strategies.
This success would not have been possible without the trust and collaboration of:
The citizens and communities of Appalachia, who welcomed visitors with open arms.
Local and state legislators and officials, whose support and vision paved the way for transformative growth.
Gearheads and motorsports enthusiasts, whose passion and participation have made our events unforgettable.
Sanctioning bodies and motorsports organizations, who partnered with us to deliver safe and high-quality events.
Our partners and sponsors:
Including the Appalachian Regional Commission, USDA, JTF, Kentucky Energy Cabinet, Kentucky Opioid Abatement Council, and West Virginia Department of Agriculture, whose financial and strategic contributions have empowered our mission to drive economic development. These efforts exemplify the resilience of Appalachia and the strength that comes from partnerships dedicated to community progress.
Backroads of Appalachia remains committed to delivering meaningful economic and cultural contributions to our region in the years to come.
