On this 27 mile loop you will experience some of Appalachia’s most breathtaking scenery such as the Red River Gorge, a canyon system located on the Red River and a true Geological treasure. The Nada tunnel, a 900-foot-long tunnel built in 1910 by the railroad to haul coal from the Appalachian Mountains, is now paved and provides a shortcut to the Gorge system. Part of the regions unique geological features is Kentucky’s world famous Natural Bridge. Formed over millions of years, the sandstone arch stretches more than 75 feet in length and stands 65 feet high. With so much to offer, this route is truly a must see for anyone who loves nature and history.
