UPDATE 4/3/25: During late February, there was significant flooding in the Appalachia Mountains Region. Thankfully, event locations slated for Rides4Fun events were spared from any substantial damage. However, under the Kentucky’s Governor state of emergency declaration, Buckhorn Lake State Park (the scheduled location of our first event) has become temporary housing for 83 Kentucky families impacted by the surrounding flooding. This was part of a much larger emergency disaster plan put in place by the Governor’s actions.
After recent conference calls with park system management, state government leaders and our marketing partner Backroads of Appalachia, the decision was made to voluntarily cancel the MOA Getaway at Buckhorn scheduled for May 16-18. Everyone is in agreement that the park housing the displaced families is a much higher priority than any planned event.
If you were registered for the event, your event fee has been automatically refunded by BMW MOA. If you have made a room or cabin reservation, don’t forget to call Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park at 606-398-7510 and cancel the reservation. Campground reservations can be cancelled by calling 606-568-3869.
We hope everyone understands how important these resources are to the displaced families, and that Rides4Fun is committed to returning to Buckhorn Lake State Park in 2026.
The other four Rides4Fun events will continue as scheduled, starting with the MOA Getaway at Breaks on April 25-27 in Virginia. To view the Rides4Fun event schedule, please visit Rides4FunSeries.com
