Rides4Fun Series: Weekend Getaway at Pine Mountain

September 25 - September 27

The Experience:

Your event experience should be enjoyable from the time you leave your driveway until you return home. Rides4Fun has partnered with a national navigation company to offer our guests the option to choose “Best Motorcycle Roads” or take the fastest route to and from the event. This is included free as part of your registration fee. Visit Rever.co

Pine Mountain State Resort Park is located at the foot of the mountains where Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia come together. The park overlooks the town of Pineville, Kentucky. Pine Mountain is a natural haven nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The motorcycle-friendly park staff wants you to enjoy your time off of the bike as much as in the saddle, so there is a variety of amenities and activities to choose from.

When you arrive on Friday, you’ll be impressed with the park’s historic lodge constructed of old-growth hemlock timber. As soon as you enter the lodge, you’ll experience the start of the weekend amenities, with cold drinks and fresh cookies. Check-in for the event will be at the Herndon J. Evans Lodge. The Lodge will be the center of everything for the event weekend.

There will be cash bars and excellent catering provided by the park staff. If something is not planned on the schedule, you can enjoy a meal from the Mountain View Restaurant or a cocktail from the Mountain Top Tavern. Options for lodging include rooms at the lodge with mountain view patios and decks, rustic mountain cabins or modern cottages nestled in the woods.

After a peaceful night of rest and breakfast Saturday morning, you can select from multiple routes to set out for the day. Famous area roads within a short distance of the park include “Appalachian Autobahn,” “The Dragon Slayer” and — a tip of the hat to the area’s moonshine heritage — “The Revenue Runner.” There are many more just as challenging, but less known roads to enjoy. The big bike friendly adventure route on Saturday will be enjoyable for those on larger bikes with 90/10 tires.

For you and your passengers wanting time off of the bike, the park offers plenty of activities and sightseeing to fill your day. For those wanting to work on their personal bucket list and explore the area, Cumberland Gap National Park is a short ride and so is Cumberland Falls known as the “Niagara Falls of the South.” The Appalachian Mountains are filled with history and points of interest from the famous Hatfield and McCoy families. This was the most famous feud in America and took place in nearby Harlan County.
