The WCMG and Backroads of Appalachia Present our “Slay the Dragon” Ride 2024 for Autism Research! Join us we we ride 2 of Appalachia’s best kept secrets and 2 of our favorite overlooks, The Dragonslayer HWY 160 over Kentucky’s Highest Mounting and The KNOB right across the border in Norton, VA and home to the High Knob Observation Tower In Jefferson National Forest!
Secret Number 1-The DragonSlayer HWY 160 and our Welcome Center is located in Historic Lynch, KY and home to BOA Headquarters! Lynch is also home to the Portal 31 Mine and Tour which was once the biggest coal producing mine in the World! The entire town is steeped in rich Kentucky Coal Mining History from the Company Store to the Shower Houses, it is all still there! Currently ranked the number 3 ride in the country for Harley riders by Sport Bike Magazine this is 24 miles and 226 curves of pure Badassery with one of the most incredible overlooks in Kentucky! At the end of this route lies the small town of Appalachia, VA and home to our favorite BBQ Place, Black Bear BBQ and Grill! A down south Appalachian culinary experience you wont soon forget!
Secret Number 2-Located in Wise County Virginia in the Jefferson National Forest, The Knob VA is one incredible ride straight to the top of the Mountain and the High Knob Observation Tower, One of the most spectacular Overlooks in Appalachia that very few know about! At an elevation of 4,223 Feet this tower offers 360 degree views of several Appalachian States! It is absolutely spectacular and a must see for any rider!
The WCMG Will be leaving Williamsburg, KY at 9:00 AM from KY Splash Waterpark and riding several popular trails to Lynch including Revenue Runner HWY 92! Riders East can meet us in Lynch at our Brand New State of the Art Welcome Center! Do not forget to sign our “Wall Of Fame” and score some sweet BOA/WCMG Merch and grab a cold drink! Then we Ride! This is 2 of our favorite trail routes and 2 of Appalachia’s Best Overlooks and it is all for OAR-Organization for Autism Research. 1 in every 100 children in the world have some form of Autism, 1 in 44 in the U.S. $20.00 donation recommended but all donations accepted.
