Public Statement Regarding Today’s Visit from a Road Rally Group June 1, 2025

Today, we welcomed a Road Rally Group traveling cross-country on their journey to the coast. We are always thankful when visitors choose to spend time in our region and experience the beauty and hospitality our communities have to offer.

While we appreciate their visit, we want to be clear: Backroads of Appalachia does not condone speeding, reckless driving, or any unsafe behavior — especially in our towns and neighborhoods. The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we expect all visitors to respect the laws and values of the communities they pass through.

To all road rally participants and future travelers — you are welcome here. But we kindly ask that you follow posted speed limits, stay alert for children and pedestrians, and show the same respect to our communities that you would expect in your own.

We also want to remind everyone that our mobile app and official website clearly display disclaimers stating that all drivers are expected to obey traffic laws, respect local communities, and prioritize safety at all times. These expectations are a cornerstone of how we operate, and we take them seriously.

The behavior demonstrated by a few individuals today was unacceptable and is not reflective of the partnership we strive to build between motorsports and our local communities.

We remain committed to safe, responsible, and community-focused tourism — and we thank those who help uphold that mission.
