The Pinnacle

Just North of the Cumberland Gap Tunnel in Middlesboro, KY is the 4-mile spur for one of the most viewed and photographed spots in the Appalachian Mountains. The Pinnacle. We recommend stopping at the National Park Interpretative Center to learn more about The Pinnacle and the Cumberland Gap Tunnel. This windy trail quickly gains altitude and reaches the overlook at 2,440 feet. This overlook offers a gorgeous view across Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, all from one magical location. This trail route is easily accessible as part of the 2 Headed Dragon at The Crater.
